To our Livewell Family,
It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter. As many of you know, our associate doctor finished her time here at the end of 2012 and I have been caring for all of our patients (which I have thoroughly enjoyed). Since December, Dr. Zac and I have been in search of another fantastic chiropractor to come and help provide quality care and more availability for you and your families and friends.
After a long process and meeting with multiple doctors, we believe we have found a great fit for everyone. Dr. Abel Shaw will be moving to Iowa from Virginia to take over the clinic and the care of patients at the Clive location. His wife’s family lives here and they have desired to move back to the Midwest for a couple of years and were just waiting for the right opportunity.
Dr. Shaw is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also a Certified Provider of Active Release Technique. Dr. Shaw attended Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis Missouri where he completed his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He has worked with athletes from the Missouri Baptist University, NAIA championship, women’s track and field team and is currently the team chiropractor for Mary Washington University Athletics. Dr. Shaw is an Army veteran and has run both cross-country and track and field at Shippensburg University. He is currently an enthusiastic runner and marathoner. He will be filling a wonderful gap that I was unable to focus on, offering rehab exercises and more individualized home care options.
At this point in my family’s life, I need and desire to be able to spend more time with our children; they are growing up too fast! With this opportunity, I will still be able to practice a limited amount of time seeing prenatal patients at our prenatal center in Beaverdale, but will spend most of my week caring for our son and daughter and learning how to homeschool a kindergartener!
My passion has always been to provide chiropractic care to families, especially pregnant mamas, and educate, equip and empower them to live the healthiest lifestyle possible. It is our hope that you have come to know that and will continue to seek health and chiropractic care.
You will find Dr. Shaw to be very professional, kind and knowledgeable. In addition to providing superior patient care, I can assure you that Dr. Shaw’s integrity will add the personal, caring touch that will immediately put his patients at ease. I am confident his skill and compassion will reflect well back on me. He will most definitely be an asset to the community. I am certain you will feel well cared for.
We are anticipating that this transition will take place beginning May 13th. All files, patient histories and treatment information will be with Dr. Shaw and he will be able to continue with your care as seamlessly as possible. Any future adjustments that have been scheduled will remain the same and the clinic number he will use will still be (515) 987.6332.
It has been such an honor and a joy to serve you. You all have touched my heart and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of your health journey.
Dr. Tammy Watkins
